Qualities of strength refer to the specific sub-qualities of strength. Strength is a general term, and can be defined as the ability of the neuromuscular system to produce force.
Strength is in part a by-product of the control system’s capability to recruit specific numbers of motor units and its integrated function with the active system for increased inter-muscular and intra-muscular coordination.
Intra-muscular Coordination is the ability of the neuromuscular system to allow optimum levels of motor unit recruitment and motor unit synchronization, allowing high levels of force reduction, stabilization and force production.
Inter-muscular Coordination is the ability of the neuromuscular system to allow agonists, antagonists, synergists, stabilizers and neutralizers to work synergistically in an integrated, multi-planer environment.
