There are three types of muscular contractions:
1. Concentric
2. Isometric
3. Eccentric
Concentric
– The shortening of the muscle.
– Moving in the opposite direction of the resistance.
– Produce force and accelerate movement.
Isometric
– The development of muscle tension without muscle lengthening or shortening.
– No visible movement with or against resistance.
– Dynamically stabilizers force.
Eccentric
– The lengthening of the muscle.
– Moving in the same direction as the resistance.
– Reduce force and decelerate movement.
